The contract for the franchise will be awarded by the UK Government and will commence operation in April 2006.

Combining the three existing franchises of Great Western Link, Great Western and Wessex Trains will create a new, integrated network of services to provide a simple, single interface for passengers. The larger franchise will be a stronger organisation, better placed to work with industry and external partners to deliver improvements for customers across the regions served.
