National Express helps NORCAS
20 Oct 2011

Train operator National Express East Anglia (NXEA) has found a way to make old, used items help a Norwich-based charity.

NXEA’s lost property office in Norwich has donated unclaimed, old, mobile phones to local charity NORCAS. In addition, the train operator has also collected used ink cartridges and toners from their local offices to donate to the charity.

Julie Henderson of National Express East Anglia’s lost property office said: ”We’re always looking for ways in which our old, unclaimed lost property can help a good cause.  It is marvellous that these old, forgotten mobile phones which have been sitting unclaimed in the office for six months or more can be used to raise funds to help a local charity.”

NORCAS is a Norwich based charity which over the last 30 years has worked with thousands of people to help them overcome their addiction or dependency to alcohol, drugs or gambling.

Donna Hunt, Training & Fund-raising Assistant for NORCAS said: “We’re so pleased with the help that National Express East Anglia has given NORCAS. You might think that these old, unclaimed phones and used ink cartridges were of no use to anyone – but in fact they’ve helped us raise over £2000 for the charity.”
