c2c gift appeal brings Christmas cheer to local care home
Employees from National Express train operator c2c based at Laindon railway station have organised a hugely successful Christmas gift appeal for the residents of Evelyn May House, a local residential care home for people with dementia.
On Wednesday, residents from the home visited Laindon station where they were given a tour by station staff and were presented with donations made from local passengers.

Robert Hill, c2c Customer Services Assistant at Laindon, said: "We wanted to give something back to the local community, and the response has been fantastic. It's been a real team effort from all the c2c staff here at Laindon and our agency partners. Even our families have been getting involved designing posters and cards for the campaign. Considering we have only been collecting for a fortnight, we are amazed at the number of donations, with more promised through the week."
Mercy Gonouya, Manager of the Evelyn May House, said "This has been brilliant, especially for those people who don't have relatives or any visitors over the Christmas period. Thank you to all the c2c team at Laindon."
