Two years at the top for record-breaking c2c
National Express train operator c2c is celebrating after clocking up two successive years as the most punctual train operator in the country - and local celebrity baker Jo Wheatley joined the record-breaking company to hand out cakes to passengers.
c2c has now been top of the annual train punctuality table every month since December 2011. To mark the company's second anniversary as the UK's most punctual train operator, Essex baker and Great British Bake Off winner Jo Wheatley joined staff from the company to hand out cupcakes to surprised rush-hour commuters as they arrived at Fenchurch Street station.

c2c Managing Director Julian Drury said: "Running a train company is certainly no piece of cake, and that's why we're so proud of our achievement. What better way to mark two years at the top than to celebrate with some of our regular customers?"
Jo Wheatley, who won Great British Bake Off in 2011 just as c2c established themselves at the top of the punctuality table, said: "I'm delighted to help c2c celebrate their punctuality record and it's a real pleasure to help surprise commuters with a sweet morning treat."
Local MPs also praised c2c for their punctual performance.
Rochford and Southend East MP James Duddridge said: "A huge well done to c2c on this excellent achievement. They have shown remarkable consistency in delivering a high quality service that local passengers can really rely on."
South Basildon and East Thurrock MP Stephen Metcalfe said: ""I would like to congratulate all at c2c for running an extremely punctual service! It is no mean achievement to come top of the punctuality table given complexities involved in timetabling and in dealing with unforeseen and avoidable problems that may affect running times. This accolade is testament to the hard work and dedication of c2c staff and I have every confidence that this standard can continue to be maintained."
c2c has spent two successive years at the top of the annual punctuality table for the Public Performance Measure, the official rail industry measure of train punctuality published every four weeks by Network Rail. Over the past year 97.2% of c2c trains have arrived on time.
