National Express is laying on extra stops and services for Sky Blues fans so they can watch Coventry battle it out in their first Wembley Cup final for 30 years.
The national coach operator will now be running direct services from Nuneaton, Bedworth, Warwick, Rugby and Leamington Spa to Wembley Stadium, as well as putting on three departures from Pool Meadow Coach Station in Coventry.
The new pick-ups ensure fans from across the Midlands can travel to Wembley as conveniently as possible, as Coventry take on either Luton Town or Oxford United in the Checkatrade Trophy final on Saturday, April 2.
Coventry Coach Station Customer Service Advisor Tom Westlake, a lifelong Coventry City Fan, will be swapping his National Express uniform for a Sky Blues shirt as he heads down to Wembley on the coach.
Tom, 23, from Coundon, has never seen his team play at Wembley though he always dreamed of going there to see them play in a cup final, now his dream is about to come true.
He said: “I’m Coventry born and bred and have supported the blues my whole life, so I’ve been waiting for the day when they take to the pitch at Wembley in a cup final. I can’t wait to hear the crowds cheering them on and to soak up the atmosphere in such an amazing venue. I expect Coventry Coach Station will be busier than it’s been all year and the team there are geared up to meet all the fans - there is always such a buzz when we run services to big Wembley events. ”
Travelling by National Express to the Checkatrade Trophy Final at Wembley couldn’t be easier.
As well as an enhanced service network to choose from, fans also benefit from being dropped direct to the stadium’s iconic arch and priority exit lanes to help beat exiting traffic. National Express coaches depart 90 minutes after the final whistle ensuring no-one misses a minute of the action.
