Visits to National Express West Midlands bus garages are always popular and enjoyable for those that experience them, but it’s not often that the bus operator receives letters expressing their thanks.
Amelia, a year two pupil from Moseley CofE Primary School, has been reminiscing over her visit to National Express’ busy Acocks Green garage and has written a very special letter to staff at the bus garage - in particular, Jenny, the manager.
In the letter Amelia says how her favourite part of the day was ‘meeting Jenny the boss’, that her employees ‘are really lucky to have her’ and that she is ‘the best boss in the world’.
Amelia said that both staff and pupils enjoyed their day out to the garage where they had a tour around the site, talked to drivers on the bus radios, looked around different buses, and even got the chance to take the bus through a bus wash. Pupils learned a lot about the bus industry and experienced travelling on a bus - many of them for the first time.
Jenny Tocknell, Operations Manager at National Express West Midlands, said:
"It was a pleasure to have Moseley CofE Primary pupils come and visit our Acocks Green garage. It's always lovely to be able to show youngsters round and get them talking to our drivers.
"We were delighted to receive Amelia's unexpected letter of thanks. She's very kind - the bus wash is usually the favourite part of school children's visits. We hope that one day Amelia or some of the other pupils will come and work for us as a kind boss too!"
It was a fun-filled, hands-on experience for all that attended and was organised by Acocks Green driver Philip Holloway and his daughter Cleo, who attends the school. It was an eye-opening experience for them all and allowed them to develop their knowledge for a transport project which is taking place at their school.
