General Management Programme

What can I expect from the programme?
The National Express General Management Programme is a two-year scheme of operational and strategic placements, ranging from Customer Service and Service Support to Marketing placements. The opportunity to move around the business is driven by you and the Graduate Manager/Coordinator, who are on hand throughout the process on all aspects of the two year graduate experience.

We’re looking for people with a passion to achieve, who can demonstrate leadership skills and be committed to our purpose, promise and values.

How is the programme structured?
The two-year scheme consists mainly of four six-month placements which are carefully selected opportunities throughout the business and at locations around the UK. You can expect to experience the Bus, Coach and Train divisions and be involved in real business development and decision making, as well as large scale projects determined by you and line managers. The placements are not simply rotational for those on the scheme; our business is constantly evolving so the opportunities made available for graduate placements reflect this, along with the specific requirements of the individual.
At the end of the scheme, we’ll provide a support mechanism to help you into your permanent role with National Express.

How else will we develop you?
Our graduate schemes are designed to give you hands–on experience and you will also undertake a thorough induction to provide a kick start with business knowledge. Further academic learning is also available as well as leadership development and on the job training.

How will we support you?
With all of this going on, you will need really great support, so it's good news for you that we put a lot of energy into making sure this network is fantastic. You will have a mentor, line management support and graduate buddy, as well as the graduate management team. The early career network, n:gage, is on hand to provide opportunities in addition to your day-to-day role, centering around corporate social responsibility activities.

What are we looking for?

• We are looking for graduates with a minimum 2:2 degree
• Your degree will be in a discipline similar to business management, sales and marketing, economics or languages
• You will have permanent right to work in the UK
• You must be willing to relocate within the UK throughout the programme
