Responding to the challenges of climate change is a crucial and one which National Express is absolutely committed to.
Transport emissions in 2006 contributed to 24% of global CO2 emissions, with over half of these being due to car travel. By 2020 travel within the UK is forecast to increase by a further 19%, and congestion will slow our journeys down by 4% (3 seconds) for each kilometre we travel. Clearly business as usual is not a sustainable option.
Our vision for transport in 2008 is that More is Less; the more we extend the provision of public transport, the more people use it instead of cars or planes and the less CO2 and pollution will be released into our atmosphere, therefore allowing a clearer and better quality of life for all.
