c2c add 1,400 extra peak hour seats with the new May timetable
c2c has announced today their proposals for a new summer timetable for commencement in May 2008 which will add an additional 1,400 extra seats to the morning peak period into London.
A number of significant changes will take advantage of the improved operational flexibility provided by the new eight carriage platform capability at Grays - due to open at the beginning of that month - and reflect customer feedback and requests from rail user groups during the consultation process.
The consultation process will begin in the new year with passenger representative groups and rail user groups offered the opportunity to comment on the new timetable.
Proposed changes to services via Rainham and Chafford Hundred include a new service to Fenchurch Street from Grays, additional stops at Limehouse and West Ham on various services and additional carriages on some services between Grays and Fenchurch Street.
Services between Basildon and Laindon are also being offered a boost with an extra morning peak service and an extra early evening service. Additional stops are being included at Limehouse and West Ham during peak times and additional carriages added to an evening peak service.
Launching the new timetable Mark Hopwood, Managing Director for c2c said;
“We’d like to thank Network Rail for extending the platform which unlocks so much potential for providing a better service not only for Grays, but across the entire c2c network.
Over the last year we have made a number of positive changes to the timetable and this is the latest in a number of steps to improve timetables for our passengers. These latest changes add 1,400 additional seats into London each peak period which will be a real improvement for passengers.”

Details of the new timetable
0532 Upminster to Grays will depart at 0539 and call additionally at Tilbury Town and East Tilbury before terminating at Stanford le Hope at 0606. As a result this train will now make a connection with the 0510 from Fenchurch Street to Shoeburyness service.
0610 Shoeburyness to Fenchurch Street will call additionally at Limehouse at 0709.
0620 Ockendon to Upminster will be replaced by a through service to Fenchurch Street (arrive 0641) that will start from Grays at 0604 and will call additionally at West Ham and Limehouse.
0648 Shoeburyness to Fenchurch Street will depart at 0645 and call additionally at West Ham at 0734.
0653 Shoeburyness to Fenchurch Street will call additionally at West Ham at 0750.
0654 Grays to Fenchurch Street via Chafford Hundred will be formed of 8 carriages instead of the current 4 cars.
0656 Pitsea to Fenchurch Street via Rainham will depart at 0655 and call additionally at West Ham at 0742.
06.55 Leigh on Sea to Fenchurch Street (arrive 0742) will be an additional service and will be formed of 8 carriages. This train will call at Benfleet, Pitsea, Basildon, Barking and Limehouse.
0702 Pitsea to Fenchurch Street via Chafford Hundred will start from Southend Central at 0644 calling additionally at all stations to Pitsea.
0710 Pitsea to Fenchurch Street via Chafford Hundred will call additionally at Limehouse at 0813.
0732 Grays to Fenchurch Street via Rainham will be formed of 8 carriages instead of the current 4 cars and will call additionally at West Ham at 0759.
0908 Pitsea to Fenchurch Street via Chafford Hundred will start from Leigh on Sea at 0901.
1527 Fenchurch Street to Leigh on Sea will now be extended to terminate at Southend Central (arrive 1619) and will call additionally at Chalkwell and Westcliff.
1654 Fenchurch Street to Pitsea via Rainham will be formed of 8 carriages and will now depart at 1651 and terminate at Grays where it will connect into the 1657 Fenchurch Street to Pitsea service.
1718 Fenchurch Street to Southend Central via Basildon will be diverted via Chafford Hundred and terminate at Pitsea.
1720 Fenchurch Street to Thorpe Bay will be formed of 12 carriages instead of the current 8 cars.
1722 Fenchurch Street to Laindon will call additionally at West Horndon at 1751 arriving Laindon at 1756.
1802 Fenchurch Street to Pitsea via Chafford Hundred will be extended to Leigh on Sea calling at all stations enabling passengers for stations to Shoeburyness to make a same platform interchange at Benfleet.
1833 Fenchurch Street to Grays via Chafford Hundred will be formed of 8 carriages instead of the current 4 cars and will depart at 1837.
2230 Fenchurch Street to Shoeburyness (arrive 2336) will be an additional semi fast service and will call at West Ham, Barking, Upminster, Laindon and all stations to Shoeburyness.
