Angela Watkinson MP opens new customer lifts at Upminster Station
Today, Angela Watkinson; MP for Upminster, joined staff at train operating company, c2c, to officially open the new customer lift facility at Upminster station.
The new lifts, funded by Network Rail, comply fully with the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) and are bright and modern with touch-button automatic doors replacing the old-fashioned lifts that were unsuitable for customer use due to their heavy manual operation.
Mark Hopwood, c2c Managing Director commented
“Upminster station is one of the busiest on the route so it was a real challenge to have the lifts out of action whilst works were taking place so we’re very pleased to have the new lifts operational.
These new lifts are part of a programme of improvements being delivered this year including the car park upgrade at Rainham, the Oyster Card extension project and the new timetable in May which will deliver real benefits to our customers and we look forward to making further details about them available soon”
