Rainham station car park doubles in size
Today, Councillor Michael Armstrong of the London Borough of Havering unveiled a plaque with Kevin Frazer, Head of Operations for c2c, to mark the completion of a £103,000 customer improvement project which has doubled parking facilities in Rainham Station car park.
Funded by c2c, car parking space at Rainham has more than doubled from 88 parking bays to 185. In addition, disabled bays have been re-modeled and five spaces for wheelchair users created.
In addition to the capacity increases, a CCTV system has been fitted, two help points created and improved lighting installed.
Commenting on the project, Kevin Frazer, said: “Foot fall at Rainham Station has risen by almost 4% in the last year and we forecast further growth in the future. It is our aim at c2c to make travel simpler for our customers and this project will ensure that flexibility for station users in the future.”
Councillor Michael Armstrong said “The extended car parking facility at Rainham station is a great boost for Havering residents. By improving car parking facilities at the station, c2c have broadened the appeal of public transport to those that don’t live within easy access to the station and to those with mobility impairments.”
Since the beginning of the year, Rainham station users have also benefited from the introduction of the Oyster PAYG facility bringing the speed and convenience of Oyster onto the c2c network.
