Little "posh" travellers launch miniature-priced first class rail fares
They're pint-sized and "posh" - and they know the stylish way to travel! Children from Yorkshire’s Leeds Roundhay Stagecoach School got on board with National Express East Coast to launch the train operator’s miniature price First Class fares campaign at York station today (2 July).
Dressed in suitably "posh" attire, the five diminutive stage stars, aged between 6 and 8, entertained passengers at York railway station by appearing as miniature versions of "posh" characters traditionally associated with luxury travel - a polo player, a businessman, a top hat and tails gent, a debutante and a lady who lunches.
Launched this week, the train operator’s latest 'Posh Miniature Prices’ campaign offers rail travellers the opportunity to experience a first class lifestyle at miniature-sized prices.
Rachel Dawson, National Express East Coast sales and marketing director, said: “This summer National Express East Coast is offering a great range of value for money First Class fares to many exciting destinations between London and Scotland. First Class is often perceived as the expensive, "posh" way to travel, but our miniature-priced First Advance fares enable everyone to treat themselves to a first class journey without blowing their budget.”
Travellers can also save a further 10 per cent discount when booking online at www.nationalexpresseastcoast.com. A First Class single journey to London from York starts at only £32.50 or £36 from Darlington, £29.50 from Hull and £27.50 from Doncaster/Sheffield when booked in advance.
The latest advertising campaign supporting the launch of ‘Posh Miniature Prices’ stars a specially-created miniature railway, made by the famous model railway makers Hornby and two posh characters - a polo player and a businessman with butler.
The new campaign will appear on station posters across the East Coast route, in regional newspapers, lifestyle magazines and online. National Express is also teaming up with Yorkshire Tourist Board, VisitScotland, Enjoy England and Newcastle Gateshead Initiative to highlight the exciting destinations accessible by National Express East Coast train services.
