Train operator National Express East Coast has created a special sandwich to raise funds for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.
The Poppy Appeal Sandwich of the Month will appear on all National Express East Coast trains on the East Coast Main Line from Sunday 12 October until Saturday 8 November.
The sandwich, consisting of a ham salad in a poppy seed roll, will be available from the cafe bar and trolley service on trains with 10p from each sandwich being donated to the Poppy Appeal.
National Express East Coast Head of Catering, Darren Fennah said: “We are always looking to create new and exciting options for our customers and the Poppy Appeal Sandwich of the month is a fantastic addition to our menu. It is an easy way for our customers to help raise money for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.
“National Express East Coast is proud to support the outstanding work carried out by the Royal British Legion.”
Russell Thompson, Head of Fundraising at The Royal British Legion, said: “We are very pleased to be working with National Express East Coast and hope that this initiative will be a success.
“The money raised will allow the Legion to continue to support serving and ex-Service people and their families.”
