National Express unveil new service at Stansted

30 Dec 2008

National Express has unveiled the first of 14 new buses being introduced to the Stansted Airport Car Parks service this week, including seven Mercedes Citaro ‘Bendy’ buses.

The new buses will replace older vehicles currently in use, which transfer Stansted customers between the mid and long stay car parks and the terminal building. National Express took over the contract for car park bussing at Stansted in October.

Seven new Mercedes Citaro 18m articulated ‘Bendy’ buses will be introduced to the long stay car park service  while seven Mercedes  Citaro 12m rigid buses will be introduced to the mid stay car park. The long stay service runs up to every 15 minutes whilst the mid stay is a 10 minute service. Both services operate 24 hours.

David Shearman, Project Manager at Stansted, commented:
“Since October it has been our priority to introduce new vehicles to the Stansted Airport service and we are delighted to unveil the fleet. The new buses will offer plenty of luggage space for customers and a comfortable, reliable service in and out of the Stansted car parks”.

In October National Express took over the contract for the management of car parks and associated bussing activity in Stansted airport. Working in partnership with Spanish company Cintra Car Parks UK, National Express has also introduced three new Enviro 200s to the Stansted staff bus services which operate between the staff car parks, the Northside Business Park and the terminal.
