Extra trains feature in new summer timetable

The summer timetable for train services provided by National Express East Anglia (NXEA) is due to commence on Sunday 17 May 2009 and features extra trains to a number of seaside destinations for families holidaying at home this summer. Details of ideas for days out by train to these and many other regional and London attractions are available from the leisure offers section of the NXEA website at: www.nationalexpresseastanglia.com

The timetable includes extra direct Saturday services between London Liverpool Street and the ever popular resort of Great Yarmouth, more Saturday services between Norwich and Great Yarmouth, plus additional Sunday services between Norwich and Sheringham, Ipswich and Felixstowe and between Ipswich and Peterborough.

James Steward, Area Manager for NXEA’s rural stations said: “We’re looking forward to a great summer in 2009 and with more families expected to book their holidays at home this year, we’re pleased to be running extra trains to seaside resorts such as Felixstowe, Great Yarmouth and Sheringham. We will also be running the usual additional trains to events such as the Lowestoft Seafront Air Festival.”     

Timetables on other NXEA routes are mostly unchanged from the existing schedules, but customers are advised of a number of minor alterations to some services and to check train times in advance of travel.  New timetable booklets are available at stations and further information can be obtained at:  www.nationalexpresseastanglia.com or by calling National Rail Enquiries on 08457 48 49 50

Notes to Editors

Direct Saturday services between Great Yarmouth and London Liverpool Street will depart at 10.08 and 13.10. The 10.00 and 12.00 London Liverpool Street to Norwich Saturday services will also be extended to run through to Great Yarmouth. Additional Saturday services will also run between Norwich and Great Yarmouth for the summer period, departing Norwich at 10.06, 11.13, 13.18 and 15.18, and departing Great Yarmouth at 10.42, 11.47, 13.58 and 16.02. These additional services will operate on Saturdays until 26 September 2009.  

Additional Sunday services will operate between Norwich and Sheringham to provide an hourly frequency of service with extra departures from Norwich at: 09.45, 11.45, 13.45, 15.45, 17.45 & 19.45. Additional services from Sheringham will depart at: 10.43, 12.43, 14.43, 16.43, 18.43 & 20.43. Extra Sunday services in addition to the usual frequency will also run at 07.55 from Ipswich to Peterborough and 09.46 from Peterborough to Ipswich, and at 10.55 from Ipswich to Felixstowe and 11.25 Felixstowe to Ipswich. These additional services will operate on Sundays until 6 September 2009.
