Less weekend improvement work planned as holiday season gets underway

28 May 2009

With summer almost here and the main holiday season soon to get underway, National Express East Anglia is informing its customers that many Saturdays and summer weekends over the next 3 months are set to be free of Network Rail improvement works on the mainline route between Norwich, Ipswich, Colchester and London Liverpool Street. This means that holidaymakers and day trippers can make travel plans without the need to check for any engineering work service alterations at weekends.

And with plenty of good value advance fares available, customers are advised to book early at: www.nationalexpresseastanglia.com to secure the best travel deals over the holiday season. National Express also offers 2for1 deals on admission to many London attractions, including theatres, hotels and restaurants as well as family attractions. Customers can collect a voucher booklet for the 2for1 admission offers from their local National Express East Anglia station or download a copy from the website.

Network Rail engineers are not planning to carry out any improvement works on the following Saturdays or weekends on the Norwich to London mainline route this summer and a normal scheduled Saturday or Sunday timetable is expected to operate on these dates:

Saturday 30 May
Saturdays 6, 13, 20 & 27 June
Saturday 4 & Sunday 5 July
Saturday 11 July
Saturday 18 & Sunday 19 and Saturday 25 & Sunday 26 July
Saturday 1 & Sunday 2, Saturday 8 & Sunday 9, Saturday 15 & Sunday 16 and Saturday 22 & Sunday 23 August
Saturdays 5, 12, 19 & 26 September

Jackie Gibbs Head of Customer Services for National Express East Anglia‘s northern region commented:
“We are pleased that many weekends this summer will be free of Network Rail improvement works on the Norwich to London mainline service, allowing for uninterrupted journeys. Together with our range of good value fares and admission offers, there has never been a better time to plan a family day out or weekend away, or to take the train to your holiday destination.”
