Performance figures which measure all trains every day for the specific route groups across the NXEA network show that train punctuality in May was recorded at the following route-by-route levels in achieving the overall average punctuality of 94.3%:

Rural   (Norwich to Cambridge, Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft & Sheringham)                                    95.6%

(Ipswich to Cambridge, Felixstowe, Lowestoft & Peterborough)

Metro (Southend Victoria, Shenfield, Romford & Ilford to London)                                                     95.4%

West Anglia (Cambridge, Harlow, Hertford East, Enfield & Chingford to London)                            94.9%

Mainline (Norwich, Ipswich, Colchester, Harwich, Clacton, Braintree & Chelmsford to London)     92.0%

Both the Rural routes punctuality of 95.6% and Metro routes punctuality of 95.4% are the best four-week figures recorded for these areas since the start of the current franchise in 2004.

Andrew Chivers, managing director for National Express East Anglia said: “We are pleased that the punctuality of our trains during May was the best we have achieved since the start of the current franchise. I would like to thank our employees for all their efforts towards improving punctuality, and we recognise there is still much work to do in delivering consistently high standards of train service performance for our customers, and we are continuing to work in partnership with Network Rail towards this aspiration. “
