National Express Dundee has announced a series of service changes in response to customer feedback and the city’s changing travel needs.
Highlights of the service changes, which come into effect on 16 August, include:
· A new express service between Broughty Ferry, Technology Park and Ninewells to reduce commuting time across the city.
· Restructuring of bus routes between St Mary’s / Arder and the city centre in response to customer feedback.
· Investment in Douglas and Charleston corridor to further improve bus reliability.
· New service linking Gallagher Retail Park, City Centre and the City Quay on a half hourly frequency.
National Express is holding an information event in city square on Saturday 8 August to inform customers of the new changes. National Express Dundee staff will be on hand to answer passenger queries and distribute new timetables. In the meantime customers can visit www.traveldundee.co.uk for further information.
Lawrence Davie, Director of National Express Dundee, said:
“From 16 August National Express Dundee is making a series of changes to bus services in the city to better serve the community and encourage more people to travel by bus. Following service changes last year we have listened to customer feedback and made further improvements to the network.
We’re also pleased to introduce new routes and create new jobs through the service changes. The city will benefit from a new express service between Broughty Ferry and Ninewells for commuters and we’re hiring new bus drivers next month.”
As part of the service changes route 22x has been withdrawn. Employee and customer feedback suggested the route was confusing as it missed several stops available on the regular 22 service (which remains unchanged). Service 5 is also being withdrawn following changing passenger trends, although service 36 will cover the majority of the route between Barns of Claverhouse, Mill O Mains and the city centre.
Several services have also been reduced during the evening and early morning following changing travel patterns in Dundee. For more information please visit www.traveldundee.co.uk, full timetable will be available online late July.
