Extra Colchester town trains for Christmas shoppers

1 Dec 2009

National Express East Anglia (NXEA) is running new and additional train services for Christmas shoppers visiting Colchester on busy Sundays in December.

On Sundays 6, 13 and 20 December an additional hourly train service will provide shoppers and daytrippers from Walton-on-the-Naze, Frinton-on-Sea, Kirby Cross, Thorpe-le-Soken, Weeley, Great Bentley, Alresford, Wivenhoe and Hythe with a service into Colchester Town.

Colchester Town station is ideally situated close to the heart of Colchester’s comprehensive range of shops. These extra Sunday services are being trialled by NXEA this Christmas and offer the ideal opportunity for Christmas shoppers to leave the car at home, avoid the stresses of finding somewhere to park and take the strain out of the Christmas shopping experience.

Trains depart Walton-on-the-Naze at 09.30 and then every 30 minutes past the hour until 17.30. Services return from Colchester Town also every hour at 10.25 and then at 25 minutes past each hour until 18.25.

Jackie Gibbs, Head of Customer Service North for NXEA said: “We’re really pleased to offer Christmas shoppers these new and additional services on Sundays in December helping to improve access into Colchester this festive season, reducing traffic congestion and providing a stress-free alternative to the car.”

A range of good value fares are available from all stations on the route and customers can obtain more details on fares and train times by enquiring at local stations or from National Rail Enquiries on 08547 484950 or the NXEA website at: www.nationalexpresseastanglia.com
