New bus services come into affect across Coventry this weekend and existing services will travel closer to the shopping centre as two vital roads into the city reopen.
Ironmonger Row and The Burges have been closed for two years causing disruption for bus passengers on the 12, 13, 19, 21 and 27. From Sunday (25 April) the bus services will once again travel down Broadgate – taking shoppers and commuters into the heart of the city centre.
Additionally Foleshill Road services will revert back to using Ironmonger Row, The Burges and Bishop Street, which will significantly shorten journey times out of the city.
National Express Coventry is combining the reopening of these key routes with the launch of several other bus service improvements. New bus services will launch providing faster journey times into the city centre and Solihull and create a direct route from Hillfields to University Hospital.
Highlights of the service changes include: -
34: A new, direct bus service from Hillfields to University Hospital. The service will replace parts of service 13 and link Tile Hill, Hearsall Common, Pool Meadow, Hillfields and University Hospital every 30 minutes.
4a: A new service offering improved evening and Sunday bus services to Stoke Green from the City Centre.
82: A new route providing faster journey times to Solihull from Torrington Avenue, Tile Hill South, Burton Green, Balsall Common and Meriden. It will replace the Solihull section of services 19W and 19X.
13: The service will be slightly rerouted to provide faster journey times into the city. The service will run from Willenhall to Binley Road, Sky Blue Way, Gosford Street and Jordan Well into the City Centre. It will no longer serve Hillfields which will have the new service 34.
19w and 19x: Journeys will terminate at Tile Hill South instead of Solihull Station. The 82 will offer new, faster journey times to Solihull.
19X: Additional journeys will be provided during off- peak hours to create a bus service every 15 minutes (with service 19) to Charter Avenue & Tile Hill South.
National Express is distributing information leaflets and timetables throughout this week to help bus passengers understand the changes. Information has been displayed on affected bus services and leaflets are available from Pool Meadow bus station.
