Other Environmental Issues

There are a range of other environmental issues that are important to manage.

Incidents and Prosecutions

In 2010 we are pleased to report that for the sixth year in a row we did not have any environmental incidents that resulted in a prosecution.

Our target is to maintain this record.

Biodiversity

We recognise the importance of wildlife and the habitats that support it. However, our land holdings do not make a significant contribution to biodiversity conservation, our strategy involves ensuring we comply with relevant legislation that protects wildlife, minimising pollution arising from our operations and having robust emergency response procedures. 

Waste Management

Non-hazardous waste is generated by our customers and offices. Overall we estimate that the percentage of non-hazardous waste not going to landfill is around 25%. We estimate nearly 95% of our hazardous waste is recycled.

In 2011 we are reviewing waste management and have set a target of reducing non-hazardous waste going to landfill by 40% by 2013.
