Pam With Bus Artwork July 2019

Xplore Dundee’s skilled engineers are being celebrated in a new exhibition at Verdant Works by local artist and former employee of the bus operator Pam Kelly.

Art of Work highlights various industries and the people who are employed within them, including the jute factories and the bus garage of the city’s main operator.

Artist Pam is a former employee of Xplore Dundee and studied Contemporary Art Practice at Dundee & Angus College while working in the company’s Customer Services department.  She was inspired to create a number of artworks featuring the engineers who work in the bus garage, maintaining and repairing the fleet of vehicles.

During her employment Pam was also commissioned by Xplore Dundee to create the ‘Ticket to Ride’ statue for Maggies Penguin Parade, on behalf of the ABC multi-operator bus ticket partnership, and painted two unique bus-themed Oor Wullie miniatures, which are also on display in her new exhibition.

Verdant Works is now accessible by the City Circe Service 360, which stops close to the popular tourist attraction as part of its circuit of the city centre.  The bus operator is also currently offering the Holiday Hop discount during the summer holidays, which gives up to three children travel for just 20p with a valid fare-paying adult.
