Ahoy, Me Hearties! Pirates of the Canal Basin are calling all landlubbers

Pirates of the Canal Basin has teamed up with National Express Coventry to urge all landlubbers to come aboard for the upcoming show at Coventry Canal Basin this April.

As part of Coventry’s year as UK City of Culture, Pirates of the Canal Basin is transforming the historic Coventry Canal Basin into a lively pirate harbour town, full of strange and wonderful wandering characters, with a stranded ship staging an epic show including live music and an aerial performance where pirates will discover what lies deep in the inky blackness of the canal.

From Thursday 21st April to Sunday 24th April 2022, EGO Performance Company’s diverse cast of performers aged 8 to 80 are bringing an inclusive, fun, outdoor experience to life with a jolly crew of pirates and an epic, swashbuckling adventure for all the family to enjoy.

Guided by a treasure map, scallywags can become seadogs at pirate school, witness a pirate court, and even get some grog at the pirate tavern. Shows start at 20:00 and tickets are on sail now for just £7. To book tickets, budding pirates just need to click here

Captain Cobbler said:

"Yo ho ho! I lead the best pirate crew in Coventry Canal Basin – named the Cobblers, after meself. Many years ago, a mighty rift did appear between the once powerful crew of my ship, The Lamont.

“The other ‘alf of that crew, led by Captain Clam, ruined it fer all o’ us, when they made the fatal error of releasing the enormous, bloodthirsty... Oops, better be careful what I says. I’ll have to tell ye when ye get ‘ere.”

Chris Gibbens, Commercial Director at National Express Coventry, said:
