National Express launch The Pride of Britain
National Express has been announced as the official travel partner for the Daily Mirror's Pride of Britain Awards 2013 and today (Monday, June 10) kicks off a week-long tour of the UK to find the nation's unsung heroes.
Launched by TV star Carol Vorderman, who presents the awards, the tour will take in cities across the UK, meeting household names and people from all walks of life along the way.
This is the second year running the UK's largest coach operator is providing travel for The Pride of Britain, which honours people who have shown exceptional bravery or care for others.
A specially-liveried coach has been created in celebration to help encourage people to nominate those that they think deserve recognition.
During the course of the week the eye-catching vehicle, which features a union jack and a picture of Carol Vorderman, will cover the length and breadth of the country, bringing a splash of colour to the nation's roads.
It will travel to destinations including London, Glasgow, Birmingham and Newcastle being met by celebrity award supporters as it goes. The coach will pay whistle-stop visits to some of the UK's favourite TV shows, being met by stars of hit shows such as Coronation Street, Hollyoaks and Waterloo Road.
The coach will also be used to take the winners to the annual awards ceremony, which was last year attended by Prime Minister David Cameron and celebrities including Robbie Williams and Olympic hero Bradley Wiggins.
Britain's biggest awards ceremony, The Pride of Britain attracts millions of viewers when it is screened on ITV1 in autumn.
Carol Vorderman said: "It's always a great honour to present the Daily Mirror's Pride of Britain Awards each year and meet such extraordinary, courageous and awe-inspiring people.
"Today we launch our nationwide search to find this year's unsung heroes. We're looking for those people who really make a difference and who are so inspiring they deserve a Pride of Britain award".
Tom Stables, Managing Director, National Express UK Coach said: "National Express is thrilled to once again be the official travel partner for the Pride of Britain Awards and we've created a special edition coach in celebration.
"As the UK's largest coach operator we cover millions of miles on the UK's roads every year and so our coach is a really fitting way to support those extraordinary people who go the extra mile - and then some - for others.
"The vehicle will operate on routes around the UK throughout the year and we hope it will encourage as many people as possible to nominate the nation's unsung heroes for a Pride of Britain Award in 2013."
