Car park improvements to be opened at West Horndon
Essex train operator c2c – a National Express franchise – is opening a new extension to the car park at West Horndon as part of a £330k investment in partnership with Network Rail, improving customer facilities and car parking capacity at the station.
The scheme provides an additional 84 car parking spaces increasing the overall capacity to almost 200 vehicles. Environmental improvements to the car park and the installation of new CCTV equipment and Pay & Display machines are also a feature of the investment scheme.
The car park improvements will be opened at 11.30am on Monday 27 July by the local MPs, Eric Pickles MP for Brentwood and Ongar, and Angela Smith MP for Basildon.
Hugh Jennings, Head of Retail for c2c said: “We’re delighted to have completed significant improvements to the car parking facilities at West Horndon, providing our customers with more capacity and modern facilities at this busy station. c2c recently topped the customer satisfaction ratings in the spring 2009 National Passenger Survey and this investment demonstrates that we are continuing to listen to our customers and meeting their aspirations for further improvement.”
Chris Curtis, Anglia route enhancement manager for Network Rail, said: "More passengers are now travelling by train than ever before and the demand for rail travel is set to continue to rise. We predict that a large proportion of these extra passengers will drive to the station, so it’s good news that we’ve been able to increase the number of spaces available at West Horndon."
