Double honours for Karen
National Express East Anglia’s Karen Smith has been thanked by Alresford Parish Council in Essex for the dedication she has shown in maintaining Alresford station. The Chairman of Alresford Parish Council, Mrs Joan Coates, presented Karen with flowers and M&S vouchers as a thank you for her efforts.
On the same day Karen was also presented with a National Express East Anglia (NXEA) Service Excellence Award by NXEA manager Anne Teasdale for her outstanding customer service, making it a double celebration.
Since joining National Express East Anglia’s Alresford station in late 2007, Karen has become a firm favourite in the local community. In addition to her ticket office duties, Karen has made her mark at the station by carrying out minor repairs and tending the gardens – making the station a more pleasant environment for all. Karen has been supported in her efforts to transform the gardens at the station by the local station adopter Frank Belgrove and the local community – many of whom have contributed their time and plants to the gardens.
Jackie Gibbs National Express East Anglia’s Head of Customer Service – North said:
“I am delighted that Karen has received this recognition by Alresford Parish Council for her dedication and hard work. Since joining National Express East Anglia, Karen has made a real difference to our customers, the station and the local community.”
