National Express introduces a new coach service from Cardiff Gate
National Express has introduced a new coach service from Cardiff Gate to provide a more convenient coach stop for customers living outside the city centre and in the Valleys.
Customers travelling to London and Birmingham with National Express can now board the coach from Cardiff Gate services, off junction 30, and avoid the city centre traffic.
London and Birmingham were amongst the top three destinations for Cardiff travellers in 2008, according to passenger figures from National Express, and the new service has been introduced to provide customers with a greater variety of travel options.
Rhiannon Diamond, Manager of National Express Cardiff, said:
“The new stop at Cardiff Gate services will provide a quick and convenient access point for customers living outside Cardiff city centre and from the Valleys. London and Birmingham are very popular destinations for Welsh travellers and the new stop is designed to make our services even more accessible.
We now operate eight services per day between Cardiff Gate and London and two services between Cardiff Gate and Birmingham. This is in addition to the many services we run from Cardiff bus station.”
National Express now operates a total of 32 services between Cardiff and London and twelve services between Cardiff and Birmingham everyday. The majority of routes run to and from Cardiff bus station.
The top ten destinations for Cardiff travellers during 2008, based on National Express figures were:
- Heathrow airport
- Gatwick airport
- Port Talbot
National Express has launched 250,000 £1 coach seats from 70 destinations across the UK to London. The £1 coach fare is available to book online at www.nationalexpress.com for travel between Cardiff and London during April, May and June.
