Call for Birmingham's young talent to step forward and shine
A West Midlands youth organisation is looking out for talented young people from across the region to audition for an exciting new drama project.
One Aim Mix Studio works to harness the artistic talent which exists among the region's young people, and give them the chance to shine and at the same time develop skills which can help them progress in life. Its latest venture is a drama project which aims to explore the challenging issues which young people face living in our inner city communities.
With the support of funding from the National Express Foundation, One Aim is launching the project to highlight the causes of youth violence and gang culture. The project will bring together a mixture of young people aged 14-28, and will use language of street slang to give the workshop authenticity so young people can relate to it on a more personal level.
Issues which will be addressed include gang culture, bullying, racism, building community cohesion, substance misuse, domestic and youth violence. The drama sessions will take place weekly on Monday evenings throughout November and December.
One Aim is looking to select 20-30 young people to take part in the project and will be selecting them during its audition weekend on 13-14 October.
Young people are invited to have their 'Time to Shine' and come along to the auditions:
Date: 13 & 14 October - 10am-4pm
Venue: Crowne Plaza Hotel, Holliday Street, Birmingham
Auditions will be held on a first come, first served basis.
