A1 is on the road
The new National Express A1 airport service is now fully operational.
The first passengers' boarded services today (May 1), as the wheels of the UK's largest coach operator's seven year agreement with London Luton Airport got in motion.
A 22-strong fleet of Caetano Levante coaches operates the route between London Luton Airport and Victoria Coach Station.
The new daily A1 service means faster journey times, more frequent services, and more seats available at peak times for passengers getting to and from the airport. An enhanced timetable, specially-engineered around flight times, will further benefit customers.
At peak, coaches are timetabled to run every ten minutes, with 150 services travelling to and from the airport each day.
Tom Stables, Managing Director UK Coach said: "I'd like to thank the efforts of our staff and drivers for ensuring the A1, a flagship service that underlines our position as the leader in affordable airport travel, got off to a fantastic start."
Customers will benefit from a range of features on board every coach including, toilets, free WiFi, power sockets, business-class legroom and CCTV.
National Express operate airport services 24/7, taking people straight to the airport door. Currently, around a third of all services are to airports with in excess of five million passenger journeys made in 2012.
