Durham School Services receives Green Fleet certification
The National School Transportation Association (NSTA) has recognised three Durham School Services locations with the Green School Bus Fleet certification.
The certification program has been endorsed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean School Bus USA program and is the only green fleet certification available in the school bus industry. NSTA recognises that school bus fleets are not acknowledged as often as they should be for the progress they’ve made and the steps they have taken steps to reduce emissions.
Spokane and Roseburg locations both achieved certification in the platinum category, with Lewisville achieving gold.
“This certification validates the work we are doing to put clean buses on the road,” said John Crain, general manager. “Through our idle reduction and fuel conservation programs we understand that even small adjustments to our operations can have a substantial positive impact on the environment.” He went on to say, “Rory Hoeffliger, my maintenance supervisor, has been focusing on idle time from the day he arrived 14 years ago. He and his team stay on top of it.”
The Spokane and Roseburg facilities have ten maintenance team members between them, 291 buses and provide services for the various schools in their districts. Lewisville has ten maintenance team members, 300 buses and serves Lewisville ISD.
