60,000 extra seats this Bank Holiday weekend
National Express train operator c2c will be running more than 60,000 extra seats over the Bank Holiday weekend to provide more capacity for local rail passengers.
More than 200 individual services across the three days will be doubled in length to eight carriages, including all of the fastest trains between Southend and London via Basildon.
c2c’s cheap weekend fares are available every day of the long weekend, and on Monday children aged under 15 can get special tickets for just £1 each as long as they travel with an adult.
c2c Managing Director Julian Drury said: “The August Bank Holiday is the traditional last great getaway of the summer, so we’re providing extra capacity to make sure there’s room for everyone onboard. With our great value fares, the kids-for-a-quid offer on Monday, and discounts for groups who travel together, c2c provides an affordable day out for the whole family.”
So far this year the number of passengers using c2c at the weekend is up 27% on last year’s figures.
