National Express Dundee to showcase students’ designs on 27 June
National Express Dundee’s getting ready to reveal its new branding designed by students of Dundee & Angus College at its Open Day this Saturday (27 June).
Ten young people from the college’s Computing and Creative Media courses have been tasked with creating a new name, livery and logo for National Express Dundee. Over the past couple of weeks their presentations have been scrutinised, shortlisted and approved by bosses at the bus company and the best of their designs will be on display at the East Dock Street depot this weekend. The finalists have met with National Express’s own bus designer and are currently working alongside him to complete the project.
Managing Director Elsie Turbyne said: “I am extremely impressed, not only with how much work these young people have put into this project in such a short space of time, but also with the quality of the ideas they have created. I am happy to say that the winning team will get a cash prize for their efforts and will also get the chance for an expenses-paid trip to National Express head office to gain some work experience alongside our own design team. “They will of course also see their vision become reality within the next few weeks and I am very much looking forward to unveiling the new branding for our company on Saturday.”
The bus operator’s doors are open to the public on Saturday 27th June, between 11am and 3pm. Entry is free and attractions include vintage vehicles, transport memorabilia, open-top bus runs, trips through the bus wash, craft and food stalls, plus face painting, games and competitions for kids. Local radio station Wave 102 will also broadcast from the event and there will be a shuttle bus transporting visitors from the City Centre (High Street, Primark) to the East Dock Street garage and on to Dundee Museum of Transport’s Truck Weekend in Market Mews.
