c2c continues to top the table
National Express train operator c2c has maintained its position as the most punctual rail service in Britain.
New statistics published by Network Rail show 97.5% of c2c trains arrived on time last month, which was the best result of any train operator in the country.
Over the past year, a total of 97.1% of c2c trains have arrived on time, compared with the national average of 89.5%. c2c has continuously maintained its position at the top of this long-term punctuality league table since December 2011.
c2c Managing Director Julian Drury said: “We are all proud at c2c that our unrelenting focus on punctuality has delivered such a reliable train service for our customers. We aim to build on this with a host of new improvements that combined will provide more capacity, deliver greater value for local passengers, and ensure they receive excellent customer service.”
c2c’s future improvements for passengers include a new timetable from this December, the staffing every station from the first train of the day to the last, and a new scheme that will automatically compensate season ticket holders for delays of as little as two minutes.
The figures published by Network Rail are the Public Performance Measure, the rail industry’s official standard of punctuality.
