Driver’s fundraising reaches new heights
Allan checks his map in preparation for climbing Ben Nevis for Cash for Kids this weekend
A Dundee driver is getting ready for his latest fundraising challenge – not content with scaling the University of Dundee Tower Building last year in order to abseil down it, Allan Fordyce is getting ready to climb Britain’s highest mountain - Ben Nevis.
The National Express Dundee driver will join a group of fundraisers walking up Ben Nevis this Saturday, 8th August, in aid of Cash for Kids. National Express Dundee is also helping to provide transport for the group from Dundee to Fort William.
Driver and veteran fundraiser Allan said: “This is one of our toughest challenges yet – Ben Nevis is 1,344 metres and it’s a strenuous climb, but I’ve been training for the past few weeks and I’m ready to go.
“Thanks to all who have sponsored me so far - if I do start to struggle I’ll think of all the kids in Dundee and the surrounding area that this money will help and I know that will keep me going – it’s why we’re doing it, after all.”
Radio Tay’s Cash for Kids supports underprivileged children in Dundee and the surrounding area. To donate to the charity, or for more information, visit www.tayfm.co.uk/charity.
