Local buses get behind Black Country Festival
Kerry Jukes-Rowe and Richard Smith of National Express join Black Country Festival organisers, Dave Brownhill and Steve Edwards
The Black Country flag will be flying proudly on buses across the region this month after National Express West Midlands decked 50 of its fleet out in the colours.
And the bus operator is also offering a discounted bus fare on its Family Daysaver ticket on Saturday July 11 and Sunday July 12 July on all its buses in the Black Country. The ticket which normally is priced at £8 will be available for £5 when people ask for a Family Special ticket.
The Black Country’s leading bus service provider will also be attending this Saturday’s Stone Street Square event in Dudley town centre, showing off their new buses and giving away some goodies along the way.
Steve Edwards, chairman of the Black Country Festival committee, said:
“It’s fantastic that National Express West Midlands have thrown their weight behind this year’s festival and seeing the Black Country colours on the buses is absolutely brilliant. I’m sure people will make the most of the reduced family fare to get around from one event to the other as part of the festival this weekend.”
Kerry Jukes-Rowe, Dudley Manager for National Express West Midlands said:
"We have bus garages in all four of the Black Country boroughs, employing well over 2,000 local people, so we are proud to supporting the Black Country festival. Our regional flag will be on over 50 vehicles across the Black Country during July and we are also providing a special Black Country festival ticket to help people get around and make the most of the festivities."
Also on Saturday, there is a Black Country Beer Day where the Campaign for Real Ale have organised a tour of local breweries via the bus network.
This year’s festival promises to be even bigger and better with Dudley Council again supporting the community to put on a variety of entertainment across the borough.
