Road to Wembley that bit smoother for Villa fans
Birmingham Coach Station Manager Russell Jinks
The road to Wembley has just got that bit easier for Aston Villa fans after coach giant National Express revealed plans to enhance services to the FA Cup Final.
The coach operator, which is based in Digbeth, will now be running direct services to Wembley from Lichfield, Tamworth, Great Barr and Redditch as well as Birmingham Coach Station.
The new pick-ups ensure fans from across the Midlands can get to Wembley as conveniently as possible to watch the claret and blues take on Arsenal on Saturday, May 30.
Birmingham Coach Station Manager Russell Jinks – himself a Villa fan - expects May 30 to be one of the busiest of the year. Thankfully for Russ though he will be handing over the reigns of the coach station and joining the thousands of Villa fans expected to turn out for the historic game.
It’s a family affair for 43 year-old Russ, who lives in Rubery – he is going to the match with dad Brian, brother Ian and his seven year-old nephew Archie.
He said: “We’re the official transport supplier to Wembley Stadium so as you can imagine match days are always buzzing but with it being Villa final, May 30 is going to be something else here at the station. It’s always great to see the station full and there’s a great atmosphere on match days and being a fan myself it’s really exciting. I can’t wait for the day – it’s the whole experience from travelling down to walking down Wembley way and hearing the fans singing. We never expected to get this far so we have nothing to lose and everything to play for.”
Travelling by National Express to the FA Cup Final at Wembley couldn’t be easier.
As well as an enhanced service network to choose from, fans also benefit from being dropped direct to the stadium’s iconic arch and priority exit lanes to help beat exiting traffic. National Express coaches depart 60 minutes after the final whistle ensuring no-one misses a minute of the action.
