Coach travel set to be as popular as ever this half term
With hundreds of thousands of travellers choosing coach as their mode of transport this February half term holiday, National Express has compiled a list of the most popular destinations during the break.
The UK’s largest coach operator has revealed that after London, Bristol has the most bookings for travel by coach, followed by Birmingham, Manchester and Cardiff.
And with thousands of fares to top destinations costing just £5 or less, demand for travel on National Express’ UK-wide coach network during February half term is as popular as ever.
Latest bookings are up by nearly 10 per cent on last year and thousands of extra seats are being added to services to cope with the more than 700,000 passengers expected on board during the holiday.
Bookings for travel to both Bristol and Birmingham are up by nearly a third while there has been a nearly 40 per cent increase in bookings to Manchester compared to 2017.
Heathrow is the most popular UK airport destination by coach meanwhile with thousands booked to travel there and passenger numbers up nearly 17 per cent on last year.
National Express Coach Managing Director, Chris Hardy, said: ‘With the Christmas Holidays now a distant memory, many people will be looking to take a well earned break with their families or friends at half term.
“It's no wonder that growing numbers of people are opting to travel by coach. With fares starting at just £5, it represents excellent value and National Express passengers also enjoy a guaranteed seat and our on-board entertainment system VUER to help relax during the journey.”
