National Express West Midlands has teamed up with the West Midlands Care Association to support social care workers with a 10% staff discount on bus travel across the West Midlands. 

West Midlands Case Association supports care providers to deliver the highest level of support within the community, providing nursing, special needs, residential and domiciliary services across the West Midlands.

Rising costs have impacted the daily lives of many individuals across the UK, especially those running and maintaining cars to get to and from work. Through a new workplace partnership with National Express West Midlands, staff teams of care providers, who are members of the West Midlands Care Association, now have access to an exclusive 10% discount on bus travel which could save employees up to £120 a year on bus travel.

Jamie Bloomfield, Operations Officer of West Midlands Care Association, said: “Workers in the care industry have been hit particularly hard by increasing fuel costs. In partnership with National Express West Midlands, we hope to reduce the cost of travel amongst our care provider members and offer some comfort during challenging times.

“By offering discounted travel, we hope to encourage employment within the social care sector, reduce social isolation and loneliness amongst our clients, and ultimately reduce the burden on the NHS, ensuring the delivery of consistent care packages to those in need.

“Finally, by reducing car usage amongst our members, we hope to take great steps towards reducing the carbon footprint across the adult social care sector.”

If everyone switched just one car journey a month to bus, there would be a billion fewer car journeys and a saving of 2 million tonnes of carbon dioxide per year, reducing the time spent in traffic and making everyone’s journeys smoother and greener.
